St. Hilds, Dawdon Award-winning adaptations to grade II listed building. The original church was built in 1912. Known as the 'Pitman's cathedral', it could seat over 360 and still had the original coal boiler.
The conversion halved the church to create new community rooms
New Sikh temple (Gurdwara), Sunderland. Currently worshipping in a former church hall, with a listed church building next door, the Sunderland Sikh community needs to improve their building to compete with the new Newcastle Gurdwara.
